Laser powder bed fusion processability of Ti-6Al-4V powder decorated by B4C particles

چکیده
Understanding the laser-powder interaction during laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) of composite systems is vital in producing robust parts. The currently existing mechanically mixed powders are unable to meet requirements an ideal for LPBF process, even if metallic particles remain highly spherical with a second constituent attached them. It was found that presence reinforcing agent (i.e., B4C) on surface Ti-6Al-4V), rather than its embedment, hinders full melting and deteriorates flowability by creating inter-particle tangling. Despite significant improvement optical absorption caused incorporation agent, showed inferior processability compared monolithic system.

Laser powder bed fusion of Ti-6Al-4V parts: Thermal modeling and mechanical implications
A continuum-scale modeling approach is developed and employed with three-dimensional finite element analysis (FEA), for simulating the temperature response of a Ti-6Al-4V, two-layered parallelepiped with dimensions of 10×5×0.06 mm during Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF), a metals additive manufacturing (AM) method. The model has been validated using experimental melt pool measurements from the l...

Laser cladding process was performed on a commercial Ti-6Al-4V (α + β) titanium alloy by means of tungsten carbide-nickel based alloy powder blend. Nd:YAG laser with a 2.2-KW continuous wave was used with coaxial jet nozzle coupled with a standard powder feeding system. Four-track deposition of a blended powder consisting of 60 wt % tungsten carbide (WC) and 40 wt % NiCrBSi was successfully mad...

A thin-wall structure composed of Ti-6Al-4V has been deposited using direct laser deposition (DLD) from blended Ti, Al, and V elemental powders. The microstructure and composition distribution along the build height direction were intensively investigated using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDS), and Vickers hardness testing. The micr...
متن کاملMicrostructure and Mechanical Behavior of Porous Ti–6Al–4V Processed by Spherical Powder Sintering
Reducing the stiffness of titanium is an important issue to improve the behavior of this material when working together with bone, which can be achieved by generating a porous structure. The aim of this research was to analyze the porosity and mechanical behavior of Ti-6Al-4V porous samples developed by spherical powder sintering. Four different microsphere sizes were sintered at temperatures r...
